Lhermitte’s Sign

This symptom refers to the transient, electrical sensation down the spine that is usually triggered when the neck is moved or flexed in a particular way. Lhermitte’s sign occurs as a result of demyelination. When nerves lose the protective layer around them (myelin), they are unable to carry signals to the brain as they should. This results in the delay of signal transmission or miscommunication between nerve fibers.

Muscle Weakness

People with early-stage MS may experience muscle weakness in one or more limbs, which can render them unable to walk properly. This is also due to nerve damage and the disruption of signals from within the spinal cord.

Dizziness

Multiple sclerosis can cause lesions to develop around the cerebellum or brainstem, whose function is to help you control your balance. Dizziness associated with multiple sclerosis is usually severe and can persist for hours up to several days.
